The Brain - Body Connection

At any given time, you have a variety electrical signals working throughout your brain and body at the same time. Various frequencies play different roles in brain / body behavior. From time to time, the brain can achieve an imbalance in neuro chemical or the neuro electrical system which can manifest in physical pain, brain fog, mind chatter and can even lead to feelings of fatigue, depression, lack of focus or other cognitive challenges if left unchecked.  Causes can range from diet, substance abuse, illness, our refusal to slow down and take better care of ourselves, stress, and lack of exercise to name a few.

The fluid structure of the brain is just as important as the solid structure. The fluids of our brain are composed of proteins, glucose and oxygen. Just where does this fluid come from? It starts with our diet and our supplements regimen. Your brain doesn’t magically conjure up the amino acids, enzymes and other nutrients required keep your brain and body at peak performance.

I often tell people who are concerned about their cognitive functions that you are only as good as the fuel you place inside your body. Most of us treat our cars with greater care and concern than we do our own bodies. The saturated fats, the oils, the sugars, the fast foods, the sodas, the pesticides, the tobacco, the chemicals we ingest, absorb, what some will shoot up, snort, smoke, sniff, dissolve, swallow . . . then we wonder . . . why . . . we . . . can . . . not . . . talk . . . in . . . more . . . than . . . single . . . syllable . . . words . . ., we wonder why our memory doesn’t work like it did when we were getting rest, managing our stress, our weight, our time and making time for those we love, including ourselves.”

Have you noticed when you are under pressure, your mind becomes distracted, detached or feeling as if it has shut down? When you worry, you start a chain reaction that can affect your

  • Focus,
  • Adrenals,
  • Attention,
  • Nervous Stomach,
  • Stomach Pain
  • Back Pain
  • Immune System
  • Ability to make sound decisions
  • Capability for productivity and achievement

Fortunately for many people, these conditions can be corrected in a very short period of time with the modalities we offer at BrainTek. I often tell our clients, “It is not the load that breaks you down, it’s how you carry it.”

A client at visited us at BrainTek Institute recently and complained about back and stomach pain. I ran three assessments; a neuro chemical, neuro electrical and a neuro physiology assessment.  I mentioned to her that her stress levels seemed to parallel the pain in her abdomen and lower back. She was quick to let me know there was no stress in her life. This is not uncommon as people adjust to their stress levels until they explode or break down.  I didn’t argue with her; instead, I created a protocol for her stress levels at three major communication locations within her brain. Within the hour, she described how the pain in her back was gone.  The stress knots in her shoulders and neck were gone, the black shadows around her eyes was also gone.  I walked her over to a mirror and she shrieked with excitement.

Today, I received a telephone call from a remote client who said that she had the best night of sleep she has had in months after using our remote services.  She continued to tell me how the darkness around her eyes diminished to the extent she had to put on her glasses to make sure. Remember, if it affects the brain, it very often affects the body.

A gentleman came in the office last week happy to report that his first remote session, he was able to close and open his fingers; something he hasn’t been able to do since his stroke. These stories are not unique as we hear them frequently.

Your Unique Brain
Everyone's brain is as unique to them as their own fingerprints and results will vary.  That is why relaxation CD’s are a temporary method to help you relax.  We work with the root of the problem.  Our protocols are designed for your particular brain and your particular needs.

After your brain has been entrained to the more desirable homeostasis, we teach our clients how to manage their own brain.  We do this through protocols, lobe specific exercises and lobe specific games.  Did you know you can make certain movements with your thumbs and bring your brain to focus and attention?  You can also change dominance in your brain.  I did a major national talk show and before I went on, the show producer had a headache.  She didn’t tell me she had the headache, I could hear it through the vibrations in her voice.  I called her by name and asked her if she would like to get rid of that headache before I went on.  She laughed and said we go on in five minutes.  I told her all I need is about 20 seconds.  I walked her through a simple brain exercise we teach all of our clients remote or in office.  She screamed “It’s Gone!”  I didn’t do it, I taught her to do it for herself.

There are a few things you can do at home to supplement what we do to support you at BrainTek Institute. They are;

Deep Breathing
Deep Breathing is a simple but effective method in increasing your energy and alertness. You can do this while sitting at your desk at the office, classroom and home. Start with an exhale to empty your lungs. Now inhale slowly and deeply through your nose for the count of five; hold the breath for the count of five then slowly release for the count of five. And repeat four additional times. Increase the time of each cycle from a five count to a count you are comfortable with be it a count of three, four five, six or seven. The feel good neuro chemicals and oxygen originate more from the gut than the brain and the deep breathing helps to activate them.

Muscular Exercise:
Most any type of muscular exercise will increase your alertness, focus and attention. A brisk walk or a trip up and down the stairs can invigorate and stimulate your energy. Stretching can also stimulate mental alertness and increase mental energy as well as the aid it gives to those sore, tight muscles in your back.

Standing in the sunlight
Sunlight on our skin activates the production of serotonin and vitamin D, essential components to feeling more positive and happy. Spending at least 15 minutes a day in the sun with some skin exposed will trigger the body to produce more of these compounds which help improve our moods and reduce depression and Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)

The methods we use at BrainTek were developed by our own researchers and have utilized in U.S. Department of Labor, Job Corps, rehabilitation programs, and special education programs including the Oxnard and Los Angeles Unified School Districts, Toyota Training Center, lock down environments, hospitals, clinics, doctor’s offices and remote into the homes.

Our proprietary programs have been shown to contribute to improvements in cognitive, emotional, social, learning and productivity. Examples of this are shown in the Changed Lives section of our web site from medical doctors, nurses, naturopathic doctors and individuals just like yourself.

Research has shown that our proprietary signals, music, sound, vibration, and brain wave entrainment is associated with improvements in brain health and psychological well-being.  This has been confirmed by sponsored research through the National Institute of Health and other organizations.  BrainTek is involved in research projects at two major universities and continue to stay at the cutting edge of non-invasive technologies and brain entrainment.  Dr. Maness is a member of ISNR, the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research.

Research
BrainTek Institute continues to stay at the cutting edge of brain / body research.  Our research has helped us become successful with traumatic brain injury, stroke, Attention / Focus and other cognitive challenges.  We are also studying how early detection of irregular brainwave behavior is a valuable predictor of potential challenges.
